Our installation process is structured and documented. Before panels arrive at your facility, your project has a confirmed schedule — which days for panel delivery, which days for panel erection, which day for refrigeration piping, which day for electrical connection and commissioning. You are not waiting for a team to show up whenever they finish a previous job. Panel erection for a standard cold room takes 1 to 2 days. Refrigeration piping and charging takes 1 day. Electrical wiring takes half a day. Commissioning — starting the system, monitoring pull-down to target temperature, verifying temperature uniformity, testing alarms — takes another half day. The result is a commissioned cold room in 7 to 10 working days from the start of installation.

We have completed more than 500 cold room installations across Tamil Nadu — in food processing factories, pharmaceutical warehouses, dairy plants, seafood processing facilities, hotel kitchens, hospital pharmacies, agricultural cold storage units, and commercial cold rooms of every type and size. Each completed installation includes a commissioning report, a handover document, a 1-year warranty certificate, and a 30-minute operational walkthrough for your team. We also install the after-sales infrastructure — your AMC contact number is registered, your installation is on our service record, and your cold room is in our system from the first day of operation.

Cold room installation is not a commodity service where the lowest price always represents the best value. A cold room installed incorrectly — wrong panel thickness, refrigerant undercharged, evaporator in the wrong position, door seal improperly fitted — will perform poorly from day one and deteriorate rapidly. In Tamil Nadu’s climate, where a cold room compressor may run continuously during summer and where ambient temperatures can push 45°C outside the room, installation quality is the difference between a cold room that holds −18°C reliably for 15 years and one that struggles to reach −12°C within 2 seasons. At The Green Box, installation is not outsourced to a subcontractor. Every installation across Tamil Nadu is executed by our own trained engineers — the same team that manufactures the panels, sizes the refrigeration, and stands behind the 1-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Standard cold room installation in Tamil Nadu takes 7 to 10 working days from panel delivery to commissioning. This covers PUF panel erection, refrigeration piping and charging, electrical wiring, system commissioning, temperature pull-down testing, and handover documentation. Larger multi-chamber cold storage projects may take 15 to 25 working days depending on civil integration scope. We provide a project schedule before starting.

Our installation service covers: delivery and unloading of PUF panels and refrigeration equipment, panel erection including wall panels, ceiling panels, and insulated floor panels (where required), refrigeration piping (copper) from condensing unit to evaporator, refrigerant charging, electrical wiring from your designated power point to the refrigeration system, temperature controller installation, door installation and hardware fitting, system commissioning and temperature pull-down to target temperature, and handover documentation. Civil work (flooring, drainage) is quoted separately if required.

Yes. Our installation teams are based in Tamil Nadu and travel to all districts for cold room projects. Coimbatore, Chennai, Madurai, Salem, Trichy, Tiruppur, Erode, Dindigul, Tirunelveli, Hosur, Karur, Namakkal, Vellore, Thoothukudi, Thanjavur, and all other locations. Travel cost for installation teams is included in the installation quotation for standard distances. Very remote locations may incur a travel supplement which is disclosed in the quotation.

Yes. Modular PUF panel cold rooms are designed for installation inside existing buildings without major structural changes. The panels bolt together using cam-lock fittings and rest on your existing floor with a rubber sill seal. No demolition, no brick laying, no plastering. The only civil requirement is an adequately level floor and access for panel entry. For insulated floor requirements (freezer rooms at −18°C and below), a concrete screed layer may be required — which we assess and quote during the site visit.

Every cold room we install in Tamil Nadu includes a 1-year comprehensive installation warranty covering all components — PUF panels, refrigeration compressor, condenser, evaporator, insulated door, cam-lock fittings, refrigerant piping, and electrical connections made during installation. If any component fails or any workmanship issue arises in the first year, we repair or replace it at no charge. The warranty begins on the date of commissioning sign-off.

Both. The majority of our installations are in existing buildings — factories, warehouses, hotels, hospitals, pharmacies, and commercial spaces. Modular PUF panel cold rooms can be installed in virtually any space with adequate ceiling height (minimum 3 metres for most configurations) and level flooring. We do not require new construction. If your building has specific access constraints, low ceiling height, or unusual dimensions, our engineer assesses this during the site visit and designs accordingly.

We use R-22 (for legacy systems and repairs), R-404A (for medium and low temperature applications where older refrigerant standards apply), and R-448A / R-449A (HFO-based low GWP refrigerants for new installations compliant with updated ODS regulations). For new installations, we default to the most compliant refrigerant for the temperature range and advise clients on refrigerant choice based on their long-term maintenance preferences.

Yes. We regularly schedule cold room installations during client planned shutdowns, weekends, or public holidays to minimise production disruption. Panel erection can proceed in 1 to 2 days for standard rooms. Refrigeration piping and electrical work require access to your power supply. We plan the installation sequence with you to identify which phases can proceed during production and which require a brief shutdown — typically just the electrical connection phase.

Yes. Commissioning is an included part of every installation. After installation is complete, we charge the refrigeration system, start the compressor, and monitor the pull-down from ambient to target temperature. We verify that the temperature reaches the specified target, check the temperature uniformity across the room, test the door seal, verify the alarm function, and document the commissioning results. You receive a commissioning report and sign-off sheet as part of the handover package.

Yes. As part of every installation handover, our engineer provides a 30 to 60 minute operational walkthrough for your team — covering how to operate the temperature controller, how to set alarms, what the defrost cycle does and why, how to check door seals, what to do if the temperature alarm triggers, and who to call for AMC support. A simple laminated operating guide is fixed inside the cold room for quick reference.
